Simon prides itself on being one of the most diverse graduate programs among top business schools… an effort that extends well beyond the classroom!

In early March, I will be making my first ever trip to India to conduct an Alumni Panel Discussion and meet with prospective MBA and Master’s students.  Sure, there’s a bit of nervous anxiety about boarding a plane for a 14 hour flight from Newark to Mumbai, but I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to introduce Simon to the newest group of prospective students – who may someday find themselves on a similar flight to Rochester – meet with Simon alumni, and experience a new culture half-way around the world.

Opportunities such as this aren’t few and far between.  In fact, representatives from the Simon School Admissions office have logged countless miles traveling to more than 75 domestic and international recruiting events over the last eight months – including Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, England, Taiwan, U.S. (more than 25 cities), Korea, Vietnam, India, and Turkey to name a few.  These efforts, along with extensive student/alumni outreach, play a significant role in communicating the Simon brand globally, and shaping the diversity of our incoming classes.  They also provide us with a chance to speak with prospects in-person, and get to know them on a personal level, which in my opinion is a level of communication that social media, email, the web, and telecommunications have yet to replace.

With just a few short weeks/months left in the 2011-2012 recruitment cycle our travels will slowly come to a close, but preparations for future travel are quickly taking shape.  So whether you are preparing for graduate school in the coming months, or are introducing your alma mater to family, friends, or prospective students, keep in-mind that a Simon representative is likely to find themselves in your home country/city very soon, and they would love to meet you in-person!
