Simon GBC Halloween Bash

By: Crissi

The Simon Graduate Business Council (GBC) is a hub of Simon activities. One of the most popular events are the Simon GBC Happy Hours.  Typically hosted in conjunction with another Simon Club, the Happy Hours are a great chance for Simon students to mingle off-campus, visit a new bar or club in the city, and enjoy drink and appetizer specials.

In honor of Halloween, the GBC partnered with the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Graduate Organizing Group to throw a Halloween Bash at Tribeca on Saturday, November 1st for all graduate students and medical students attending the University of Rochester.  The party was a hit, quickly filling the night club’s three bars with graduate students in costume.  Simon reserved the upper bar with an amazing view of the dance floor, and it was clear that all of the graduate departments were mingling and making new friends.  It was also a great opportunity to see another side to your classmates – whether they be a ninja, nurse or cowboy for the night.  One student even dressed up as a Simon professor!

Simon had a great turnout of students from the full-time, part-time, MBA and MS programs.  It was nice to meet someone new who you have not taken any classes with, or reconnect with a friend you didn’t recognize because of their costume.  The GBC hosts one or two Happy Hours a month; the next one is Simon Quiz Night, which is sure to be a hit with over ten teams already signed up.
