Summer may have just begun, but here at the Simon School we are already beginning to see familiar faces on campus as our incoming summer and fall students start to arrive in Rochester!  For those of you who are currently in the city, or those planning a trip to the area over the course of the summer months, there is no shortage of things to do while you are in town.  Here are a few ideas of places to go, and things to do- Enjoy!

2011 Corn Hill Arts Festival
The 2011 Corn Hill Arts Festival marks the 43rd anniversary for this celebrated arts festival in Rochester’s historic Corn Hill neighborhood. This year’s festival is July 9th – 10th and features over four hundred artists, the Emerging Artists Expo, four stages of continuous live music, sponsored events, the Labatt Blue Beer Garden and “Sipping the Lakes” Wine Garden.
The Corn Hill Arts Festival is all volunteer run and is officially recognized as one of the top 200 festivals by Sunshine Artist Magazine (http://www.cornhillartsfestival.com/).

Canandaigua Art & Music Festival 2011
The historic downtown Canandaigua will once again be the site of the Canandaigua Art & Music Festival this year!  Attendees will enjoy over 100 food vendors, the best local music on two stages, artist exhibits specializing in painting, drawing, photography and more and the Kids Korridor and Family Stage, which includes wildlife exhibits, clown shows and obstacle courses.  The Canandaigua Art & Music Festival features affordable family fun for all ages.  Festival hours are 12:00pm – 8:00pm on Friday and 10:00am – 6:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday.  For more information, please visit www.Canandaiguaartfestival.com (myrochester.com)

Park Ave Summer Art Fest
One of Rochester’s oldest and most unique neighborhoods celebrates its 35th Annual Festival of arts, crafts and music. This festival annually attracts over 250,000 people! This year’s festival will feature 300 artists, vendors, and exhibitors from 21 states and Canada! (http://www.park-avenue.org/events.html).

Rochester Red Wings – Minor League Baseball
The Rochester Red Wings are a minor league baseball team based in Rochester, New York. The oldest and longest running minor league franchise in the history of professional sports, the team plays in the International League and is the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins major-league club. The Red Wings play in Frontier Field, located in downtown Rochester (Wikipedia.org).

The Rochester Rhinos – Soccer
The Rochester Rhinos are an American professional soccer team based in Rochester, New York, United States. Founded in 1996, the team plays in the National Division of the new USL Professional Division, the third tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, having self-relegated from the USSF D2 Pro League at the end of the 2010 season. The team plays its home games at Sahlen’s Stadium, formerly known as PAETEC Park, where they have played since 2006 (Wikipedia.org).
