International Exchange Programs at Simon

By: Jackie

Greetings from Rochester, NY!  For the topic of this blog I would like to spend a little bit of time highlighting some of the opportunities that Simon students have to participate in international exchange programs as we often get many questions from prospective students regarding this topic. Spending some time abroad during your M.B.A. program can be a wonderful addition to your learning experience especially if you are anticipating a career with an international focus as it can allow you to get first-hand experience learning and living in another country.  In addition, some programs such as those in Argentina, Germany, and Israel, even allow you to practice speaking in another language!

We currently offer nine programs in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, and Norway (click on the links to learn more about the business programs at each school we have agreements with). At each program students will take classes with native students as well as other students from abroad. Simon students may travel on exchange during the fall, winter, or spring term of their second year (if the partner school is in session) and can earn up to 9 hours of credit towards their Simon M.B.A.

Each spring, students apply to participate in these programs by submitting an application, two letters of recommendation, personal statement, and transcript (students must have a minimum of 3.0 to participate).  Participation in some of the programs is limited to 1-3 students and some programs, such as the Argentina and Japan programs, do not have a limit.

The international exchange program is another example of one of the amazing opportunities that Simon students have during their time here.  In the future, the Simon School will be adding additional opportunities as well such as a one week course in China… stay tuned for more details!
