Inaugural Future Business Leaders Case Competition Winners Announced

We are thrilled to announce the winners of Simon’s first Future Business Leaders Case Competition: Ulf Grosseloh, Auraib Naveed, and Mariam Turmanidze! The winners were chosen from a group of 10 finalists, who were selected from the original pool of participants who submitted a case memo.

Simon’s Future Business Leaders Case Competition is designed to give college juniors and seniors as well as recent graduates an experiential learning opportunity that can help them explore their interest in business school. Beyond building skills in problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and more, the competition is an excellent addition to a young professional’s résumé and provides a great talking point for networking. The competition was free to participate and conducted in a fully virtual format. No prior business background was required for participation—just an interest in business topics and enthusiasm for learning.

The competition kicked off with an Information Session, which helped those interested in participating learn more about a case competition and why this type of learning experience is widely beneficial regardless of a participant’s professional goals and aspirations. Next, a Prep Session introduced the case, provided instructions for the memo submission and presentation, and included a teambuilding activity. The Simon team also provided tips and resources to assist those who were new to case competitions.

“The Future Business Leaders Case Competition was the perfect opportunity for me to apply my problem-solving skills in a real-world scenario while learning more about Simon Business School and its approach to experiential learning,” said Ulf Grosseloh, one of the competition winners. “The case gave me a better idea about how Simon would prepare me to strategically solve business challenges, while leveraging my analytics and communication skills in the future. I would highly recommend that any student interested in Simon participate in the case! It was fun, exciting, and I learned a lot about the Simon community along the way.”

All Future Business Leaders Case Competition finalists received prizes, and the three winners received a $250 cash prize, an all-expense paid trip to Rochester, guaranteed scholarship if admitted to one of Simon’s full-time MS programs, a trophy, and a gift box loaded with Simon gear! Congratulations once again to Ulf, Auraib, and Mariam!

Due to high interest, the Simon Admissions & Programs office is tentatively planning to host a similar competition in the spring. Please stay tuned for more information!
