Early Leader Case Competition – Results

On Friday, November 9th – Saturday, November 10th, the Simon School hosted our 2nd annual Early Leaders Case Competition for current undergraduate students.  50 students from 13 different undergraduate colleges and a variety of undergraduate majors arrived on campus to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights.  Friday afternoon, students met their assigned teammates for the first time and immediately began working on review and analysis of the assigned case – a review and assessment of IKEA’s expansion into the US market.  Each team had approximately 24 hours to analyze the case, suggest recommendations for IKEA and prepare a PowerPoint presentation for a 15 minute presentation to a panel of judges.  Many teams were burning the midnight oil on Friday night to put their best foot forward on Saturday afternoon.

During an awards dinner Saturday night, the top five teams were announced.  While the judging panel indicated that the decisions were very difficult, first place – a $7000 cash prize shared among the winning team – went to "Team F", comprised of Christelle Domercant (Univ. Rochester), Jalpa Bhavsar (Boston Univ.), Raphaela Sapire (Barnard College), Michael Bauer (Univ. Rochester), and Keith Povitch (SUNY Brockport).  It was great meeting and interacting with all the students during the Case Competition.  A special congratulations to Team F on a job well done!
