Consider the 18-Month Accelerated MBA – Accepting Applications for January 2014

If you have been considering a full-time MBA program but are hesitant about the amount of time you will need to put your career on hold to pursue the degree, consider the 18-month Accelerated MBA at Rochester.  This full-time study option offers the same core curriculum and opportunities for one or more concentrations as our 2-year MBA degree.  The cohort begins each January, with students finishing most of the core curriculum in the first two quarters of study.  This leaves a small handful of core classes and all electives for students to complete in the remainder of the program.

Accelerated MBA Students have three choices during the summer between the first and second part of their studies – they can forego an internship and take summer classes in Rochester; take classes and simultaneously pursue an internship in Rochester; or in a few select cases, pursue an internship outside of Rochester and carry a slightly heavier course load for their remaining three quarters of study.

Accelerated MBA students have the same options to participate in student clubs and activities – including leadership roles.  They also can pursue a study abroad option in the latter part of their academic program.

Scholarships are available for 18-month Accelerated MBA candidates as well. These awards are made on the basis of a full application review, which considers both objective and subjective areas of the candidate’s application.  Students usually work for 3-5 more months prior to the start of the program than those in the 2-year MBA program,  allowing more time to accumulate finances and save for B-school.  It also reduces the opportunity cost of being away from full-time employment.  And in case you are wondering, our 18-month MBA candidates do just as well as 2-year MBA candidates when it comes to career outcomes.
