Career Management Update

By: Tonya

Some good news from our Career Management Center (CMC), who reports that year-to-date placement rate results for Simon students have improved for the third consecutive year.  According to Wayne France, Director of Corporate Relations, the interim data for the Class of 2008, as of March 14th, shows a 7% increase in students accepting offers of full-time employment compared to the Class of 2007 at the same point last year.  Internship placement for the Class of 2009 is also strong, with a 3% increase in the year-over-year offer acceptance rate.

Additionally, direct-hire internship and full-time opportunities continue to come in.  Our CMC team is intent on actively pursuing these opportunites and others, especially in light of present macroeconomic circumstances.  Simon has recently broadened our recruiter base through our Global Employment Options Day on March 7th, when Simon teamed up with Syracuse University and the University of Buffalo to help DHL and Xerox with some of their international hiring needs, creating 19 interview opportunities for students from these schools.

Other CMC recruitment events this year have included the National Black MBA Association Conference, the National Society of Hispanic MBAs Conference, the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, In a New York Minute Recruitment Program, the New York Recruitment Program, and the Boston Recruiting Event.
