Around Rochester: What is there to do
in Rochester, New York?

By: Stefanie

I get this question often in Admissions here at Simon. As someone not originally from Rochester myself – and coming from a large city like Boston – I was wondering the same thing when I arrived in this city. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Rochester is enriched with a variety of cultural, athletic, and just plain “social” activities.

The hustle and bustle may not be just outside your doorstep, but from a number of professional sports teams (baseball, soccer, hockey, indoor and outdoor lacrosse, indoor football) to live music (professional orchestra, Eastman School of Music student concerts – which are free!, and local bands) to delicious restaurants and a healthy nightlife, there is plenty to see and do in this city.

I’ve been here 6 years and I have yet to experience all Rochester has to offer.

So while it is true that Rochester is not as large, in population or downtown size, as New York City or San Francisco, it still has much to offer and is an affordable place to live, work and play.

We hope this blog will give you an inside look at life in Rochester from a variety of views – Simon Admission Office staff as well as guest student bloggers. Each post in this category will cover a new activity, event, neighborhood, etc so you can discover more about this special city and become just as excited as we are to live here.

Enjoy being along for the ride!
