Women’s Weekend- Don’t Miss this Opportunity!

By: Stephani Springer

As I think back on my admissions journey to the Simon School, there is one event that always seems to stick out in my mind; Women’s Weekend.  This weekend provides a great opportunity for prospective female students to come to the University of Rochester campus to learn about Simon and mingle with current students, alumni, faculty, and admissions staff. I am looking forward to joining the event this year to share my experience, as a current student for the first time!

When I attended Women’s Weekend as a prospect in 2011, I had the opportunity to network with alumni from my intended program who wound up becoming great contacts as I continue my time here at Simon. Female alumni fly in from all over the country to share their stories with future Simonites.  Hearing their stories can shed some light on what you can do with a degree from Simon and I can say from experience, you will not be disappointed. It also turned out that the alumni and admissions staff present at the networking dinner conducted admissions interviews the following day as well. Having the opportunity to chat in a casual setting ahead of time made the actual interviews the next day much more relaxed. This was one of the greatest advantages of attending the event.

Women’s Weekend also gives prospective students the opportunity to hear from current students what the Simon experience is really all about.  What better way to get the inside scoop than to talk to those currently going through it? Current students volunteer to help with these events, so take advantage of our presence and ask tons of questions; we are willing to help. I hope that all prospective female students will come join us for Women’s Weekend 2012 to hear the inspiring stories of these female powerhouses, learn about the program from current students, and maybe even have your admissions interview.
