Simon Hosts 2nd Annual NYC Conference

On May 19th Simon held a conference on “Emerging Risks to the American Economy” in New York City.  It was a success and a wonderful moment of pride for the Simon School and the University of Rochester. From the morning’s first speaker, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, to SEC Chief Enforcement Officer Robert Khuzami, to inaugural Executive of the Year award recipient Peter G. Peterson (the former CEO of Lehman and co-founder of Blackstone), to Simon/UR scholars Cliff Smith, Robert Novy-Marx, and President Joel Seligman, Super-Freakonomics co-author Steven Levitt, Yale economist Robert Shiller, UBS COO Anita Sands, and prominent alums from the business arena such as Ricardo Leiman, Jay Benet, and Paul Singer, the conference showcased Simon on a national and international level.

More than 270 people were in the audience, including influencers and leaders within the financial industry in the New York City area.  Also in attendance were 30 representatives from media outlets such as Fox Business, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Dow Jones, Thomson Reuters, Fortune, Forbes, Management Magazine, the Daily Telegraph (UK), National Underwriter Property, Crain’s New York Business, Barron’s, Agenda, Law360, the Newark Star Ledger, WNYC Radio and Advance coverage included stories in the Democrat and Chronicle and RBJ. This was the second annual Simon Conference in New York City and we look forward to hosting this each year moving forward.  Simon is very excited to continue to build its presence in New York as an institution excelling in financial education and research.
