Simon Gets Three New Student Clubs

By: Tonya

Prospective students often ask us what life is like outside of the classroom at Simon.  We are proud to boast about our 29 student clubs and organizations.  Simon students are extremely committed and actively engaged in these organizations.  Recently students got together to form three new clubs: Simon UNcorked, Simon CFA, and the Simon Tennis Club.

Simon UNcorked currently has 35 members, including 1st and 2nd year students, partners, staff, and faculty.  They meet on a regular basis to explore the business and the enjoyment of wine.  Simon UNcorked was founded under the belief that, "Like golf, wine has become an important part of the business networking culture."  Some of UNcorked’s events include: a presentation by Robert Sands, CEO of Constellation Brands; a trip to the vineyards on the Niagara Penisula of Canada; wine tastings; and wine dinners.

Simon CFA was formed with the primary goal of achieving a 100 percent pass rate for students who decide to take the CFA exam.  Others goals are to "excel members through Simon course work by mentoring each other" and "to improve presentation and communication skills of the members through a rotating schedule of student instructors and presenters."  The club also maintains alumni contacts who are current CFA charter holders.

And finally, there’s the Simon Tennis Club.  Since tennis is one of the main sports that business executives often play as a means of business communication, this club was formed with the purpose of developing a professional and personal community among the Simon Tennis Club members and among U.S. business schools.

Through their active participation in these organizations, Simon students are able to develop new skills, establish important contacts, take on leadership roles, and play an instrumental role in the positive growth of our campus and community.
