Networking with Alumni of Simon’s Part-Time Programs

One topic that has not come up on the Admissions blog lately is reflections on our Part-Time Degree Programs. There is no one better to comment on this than myself who is half way through completing the Part-Time M.B.A. In many ways the Part-Time programs are identical to the Full-Time: the curriculum is the same, as are the coursework requirements, professors, and often the scheduling of elective courses. While Simon Alumni are not differentiated by the format in which they earned their degree, recently some Part-Time Program Alumni stepped forward to connect with our current Part-Time Students at Simon.

The Simon School Alumni Council engaged Rochester area members who graduated from our Part-Time formatted degrees to host a meet and greet with the current Part-Time students. It was a great opportunity to network with individuals who successfully completed the program. As Part-Time students, the expectation is to be employed on a Full-Time basis; interacting outside of the classroom with classmates and alumni employed at great companies in Rochester is a wonderful opportunity for expanding one’s personal network.

Best of all, the Alumni Council engaged Part-Time student ready to graduate to share the benefits of joining the Alumni community of the Simon School. When working Full-Time and attending graduate school Part-Time, it is easy to become ‘near-sighted’ and focus solely on graduating. It was refreshing to think about ‘the world after Simon’ and all of the great relationships to be formed as a Simon Alumni.
