Faculty Spotlight: David Tilson, PhD

David Tilson, Clinical Assistant Professor of Computers & Information Systems
PhD, Information Systems – Case Western Reserve University

Prior to joining Simon, David’s industry experience includes strategy consulting, mostly with McKinsey & Company, along with a decade in R&D and project management in the telecom, high-tech and media industries. He has consulted for clients in financial services, insurance, telecom, software, and energy. His track record of accomplishments includes a Royal Television Society (British equivalent to an Emmy) for broadcast technology. Having lived and worked on three continents gives him an understanding of business and collaboration in an international context.

A: CIS461 Strategy and Business Systems Consulting Practicum, CIS415 Business Process Analysis and Design and EXP422 Managerial Data Analysis

Q: How long have you taught at Simon?
A:  I taught my first course during Fall 2006

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It’s great to see when students in my consulting class really ‘get’ how structured problem solving works

Q: Share a fun fact about you?
A: My wife and I just took up running and completed our first 5k race this month.

Q:  If you could recommend a “unique Rochester experience” to prospective students what would it be?
A:  Having the Erie Canal Path right beside campus is wonderful. It is great for walking, running, and cycling for as far as you could possibly want.
