Diversity Conference and Experience Simon Weekend – Oct. 21-22

The following post was written by Rebekah Lewin, assistant dean of admissions and financial aid

Classes are in full swing now at Simon, and it’s hard to believe our first application deadline is less than one month away! We are also getting excited about our recruitment event schedule, particularly Diversity Conference and Experience Simon Weekend on October 21-22.

As in past years, we are running these events concurrently and most of the programming is shared, which creates a cohesive environment where our prospective students can get acquainted with Simon and with each other.

Diversity Conference, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, begins midday on Friday, Oct. 21. The afternoon features Consortium application preparation for those who are interested, and a Diversity Leadership Panel.

Dinner on Friday is where the Experience Simon Weekend registrants join up with Diversity Conference attendees, and attend the remainder of the weekend’s programming together. We are very excited about Friday’s dinner at The Strathallan, which features a keynote presentation by NFL Super Bowl Champion and Rochester native Roland Williams. He is also founder of the local non-profit organization Champion Academy, which uses sports to help youth within underprivileged areas across the city through empowerment and mentorship. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to network with faculty, alumni, and current students at dinner.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, our prospective students will fill their day at Simon with the following activities:

  • Alumni and student panels
  • Campus tours
  • Career roundtables with alumni
  • An overview from Simon’s Career Management Center
  • A sample MBA class
  • Admissions interview (you have this option as long as you have created an application to Simon or to the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management with Simon designated as a target school)

Lunch on Saturday will be another particularly exciting time, as we welcome back one of our Simon MBA alumni, William Reynolds, for a presentation. Will is a retired U.S. Army captain who received a Purple Heart for his service to our country. After earning his MBA in 2010, he is now working as a manager with Deloitte. We are eager to welcome him back to campus, and we know he is looking forward to meeting with you, potential additions to our Simon family.

After our formal event programming concludes, you’ll have the option of attending our Fall Ball, where you will be able to meet and mingle with current Simon students and get a taste of student life.

We are very much looking forward to these events, and we know October will be here before we know it! We anticipate registration being at capacity for these events, so I encourage you to register for Experience Simon Weekend or Diversity Conference today. The final deadline for registration is Friday, October 14.

As always, if you have any questions about event programming or the application process, don’t hesitate to email the Admissions Office. We are always happy to help.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in October!
