Cars, Careers, and Community – Sarah Spoto, MBA Class of 2017

Since she was young, Sarah Spoto, 2017 MBA candidate, has loved cars – a love instilled in her by her dad. She knew if she paired her love of the automotive industry with a Simon MBA, the result could be the career she’d always dreamed of.

Sarah began working toward her goal before she even set foot on campus. Simon staff connected her with a first-year MBA student who was about to start an internship at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). With his insight, Sarah was able to get her foot in the door and secure a summer corporate leadership development internship with FCA, where she worked on internal auditing of business processes. After she completes her MBA program, Sarah will join the Marketing Rotational Program at General Motors, a company run by the first female CEO in US auto manufacturing.

Reflecting on her MBA journey is satisfying and a little surreal for Sarah.

“I wanted to get a marketing role at an automotive company, and to top it all off, there’s a female CEO,” she said. “I was like, ‘OK, this is it. This is what I came here to do.’”
