Alumni Spotlight: Major Robert R. Massey, MBA ‘14

Major Robert R. Massey, MBA ‘14, Contingency Contracting Team Leader, U.S. Army

In my current role as a Contingency Contracting Team Leader in the U.S. Army, I oversee five contingency contracting officers who are trained to provide operational support for military around the world. While at home station, I also provide complex systems procurement support that ultimately helps servicemen and women at war.

My Simon MBA has proved extremely valuable, providing me with many important skill sets, including negotiating, conducting price analyses, leading a team, and interacting with a very diverse workforce.

I received an incredible amount of personal attention from Simon – beginning with the admissions process and ending with graduation – which influenced my decision to attend the school. I felt like I was part of the Simon family during my two years in the program and this made for a very enriching experience.

My words of advice for prospective students considering Simon Business School: I would ask every candidate to look at potential programs not only through an academic lens, but also in terms of how the school will help them become more well rounded. Simon encourages you to go out of your comfort zone, which helps you grow as a leader and a person. The rigorous academic program, as well as the team-based approach to learning, and the support of fellow classmates and faculty, facilitates success and ensures that each graduate is prepared to add value to their future endeavors.
